When we were little, we only played with puzzles, coloring books and board games. Our free time would be spent biking around the yard or playing jump rope. When I was about 8 years old, I remember having a Game Boy (the big, gray one) and we were so amazed with it. We had our first desktop computer when I was about 12 years old. Today, technology has been way more advanced and with new gadgets like tablets, smartphones and high-tech laptops. With so many apps and games available, my daughters have the tendency to be in front of the laptop or tablet all the time if I don't set breaks and an "outside" playtime for them. Don't get me wrong. I like kids apps and let my daughters play games (which are educational of course) because it encourages early learning in a fun way. I just think that anything too much isn't okay too so I balance it out with outdoor play.
In came in the TheO SmartBall. Here's a little something about it from the company.
TheO SmartBall - For kids pre-school to 5th grade – a parent’s dream!
Active kids learn more and retain more of what they learn. With TheO SmartBall, kids learn while they play.
TheO SmartBall is a soft foam ball that uses revolutionary technology and your smart device to entertain and educate your kids. Our Apps offer a variety of games that get kids engaged mentally and have fun physically.
Download one of our entertaining and educational apps to your smart device, insert your device into TheO SmartBall (a tutorial on our website shows how), and then toss, roll, or shake the ball to make learning fun.
When I received the TheO SmartBall, my daughter saw it right away and wanted to play with it. The TheO SmartBall has a nice orange color and has a firm and foamy material. Watch the video below to see how it's used.
I didn't get the chance to take a picture of the TheO SmartBall in action but my daughters loved the Flying Circus. I love how the TheO SmartBall combined active play with learning. My daughters can play indoors when it's too hot outside and still get to move around. The TheO Smart Ball is also soft and protects the smartphone inside from becoming damaged. I also like the free drawstring bag included because I can just put the TheO SmartBall in and easily carry it or store it. This would be a nice gift for young kids because my daughters loved it.
