As a mom of 2 girls, I believe that technology, with the right approach and programs, help my daughters learn. I actually love kids' apps which are fun and at the same time educational. What's better is when they offer a free trial version where my daughters can try the app first before I buy it. I've bought lots of apps for them where the description and pictures are great but after they play with it for a few times, they get bored with it and doesn't play with the app anymore.
Kids Academy Co. is a nice company which offers different fun and educational apps for kids under 5 years old. They offer a free download with a free trial for their apps. I've downloaded 3 apps from them and my daughters, who are 3 and 6, were instantly hooked.
The Preschool and Kindergarten Learning Kids Games App is free to download and for the free trial, there are 3 different games which can be played. The firefly tracing, Alphabet Sounds and the ABC Writing. Both my daughters enjoyed all the games but I do have to say this is more for my 3 year old daughter. It's easy for my 6 year old but that didn't stop her from playing. The Firefly Tracing game is very nice and I love how my 3 year old daughter gets familiar with the number by hearing the number she's tracing and also learn how to write the number. Her favorite would be seeing the jar filled up with fireflies. The alphabet game is my personal favorite because she learns how to sound out the letters. It's like she's being introduced to early phonics and she loves copying and saying the letter sound. The ABC writing is also nice because she learns how to trace
letters and later on, be able to write it on her own. I think this app
is great for young kids since it familiarizes them with alphabets,
sounds and numbers.
The Learn to Read and Write App has 3 free trial games which includes Easy Mazes, Rhyming Words and Uppercase Letters. The Easy Maze is my 3 year old daughter's favorite. It only has 2 stages available for the free trial and my 3 year old loved it. The Rhyming Words is similar to the Easy Maze but the difference is, you have to lead the dog to the picture that rhymes with what he's thinking. Now this is a bit harder and my 3 year old daughter didn't actually get it but my 6 year old daughter loved it. The Uppercase letter game taught my daughter how to write in uppercase letters by tracing it.
The Kids Puzzles is my 3 year old daughter's favorite. For the free trial, it only includes the Firefly tracing which is included in the 1st App I downloaded. My 2 daughters who are 3 and 6 loved filling up the jar with
fireflies. I think this app is more for my 3 year old though because she
learned how to write the number by tracing it. My 6 year old daughter
already knows her numbers but that didn't stop her from playing this app
because she also wanted to fill the jar with fireflies. I think this is
a great app for younger kids because they feel like they're just
filling the jar up with fireflies but along that, they learn how to
write and associate the number with it's name. The instructions are very
clear that my 3 year old daughter just figured it out herself. The
colorful pictures also encouraged her to play while of course learning.
All the Kids Academy Co. Apps I downloaded are easy to follow. The voice instructions was very clear and simple that my daughters, even my 3 year old, followed it with ease. I think these apps are really educational and love that it's presented in a fun way.
You can download the free trial version of the Kids Academy Co. Applications by clicking the links on each of my review.
