Perfect Portions Digital Scale + Nutrition Facts Display by Kitchen Gurus Review

When I learned that I was chosen to do a review of the Perfect Portions Food Scale + Nutrition Facts Display by Kitchen Gurus, I was super excited. Why? Because when I looked into the product, this might be the coolest food scale I've ever seen so far. :) Wanna know why?

The Perfect Portions Scale is a scale and nutritional calculator in one. Using the familiar "Nutrition Facts" label, it clearly displays the nutritional content (calories, fats, carbs, sugars and more) of nearly 2000 foods adjusted to your portion size. It allows you to see how many calories are in that handful of candy or track the sugar content of foods without labels. Unlike other nutritional scales, it breaks down the information into % daily value, tracks your daily total, and even lets you customize the scale by entering 99 of your own foods. It has an easy-to-clean, stylish glass-top surface and touchpad keys. The Perfect Portions Scale works with any diet to give you the information you need to help you control your portions and make healthy choices. Display weight in grams or lb oz with high resolution gradation (0.1oz/1g). Max weight capacity 10 pounds/5 kg). Additional features include automatic power off; tare function; 5 year warranty. Batteries included.

When I received my Perfect Portions Digital Scale + Nutrition Facts Display, I couldn't wait to try it. :)

The batteries are already included and installed and I just had to pull the plastic tab to make it work.

On the side, there is an on/off button and a button to change the metric system into ounces. You do have to press the On button to turn the scale on but it has an automatic off function so if you forget to press the button to turn the scale off, it will automatically turn off. :)

I turned the Perfect Portions Digital Scale on and the Nutrition Facts Display turned on and I couldn't wait to weigh my first food which is a fresh orange tomato. Before putting the tomato on the Perfect Portions Digital Scale, I let it shut off first to let it calibrate. I then entered the food code which can be found on the booklet included inside the box. There are more than almost 2000 codes there for different kinds of foods, as well as different varieties of each kind of food, for example, tomatoes have several varieties like salted and unsalted tomato sauce, dried tomatoes, etc., so be sure not to lose the booklet! You can also add up to 99 customized food codes to frequent foods you eat which are not included in the booklet.

I then placed the tomato on top of the Perfect Portions Digital Scale and... Voila!

It displayed the calorie, fat calorie, total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, total carbs, dietary fiber, sugars and weight of the tomato. COOL HUH? :) Now this is more cool.

The Perfect Portions Digital Scale has a Tare function which means, it can zero out the weight of the container and just weigh the content inside the container. I gave it a try of course since I wanted to see if it worked. :) So for this instance, I used sliced apples for my demonstration. I put the code first and then placed the empty bowl on top of the scale.

I pressed the Zero button on the bottom part and then the weight zeroed out.

I then placed the apples on the bowl and look! It just weighed the apples inside. You know why I know? I previously weighed the bol and the apples without using the Tare function and the weight was 142 grams. :)

Here is a close up of the Nutrition Facts Display for the sliced apples.

The Perfect Portions Digital Scale + Nutrition Facts Display is very easy to clean as well. I only wiped the surface of the scale with a damp cloth and it's perfect to store away.

After using the Perfect Portions Digital Scale + Nutrition Facts Display by Kitchen Gurus, I therefore conclude that this is the coolest food scale I've ever seen. At least at the moment. :)  I like that it accurately takes the weight of the foods. I also love the Tare function because I can weigh foods in powder form like sugar and flour. The coolest thing is the Nutritional Facts Display because it automatically shows me the nutrition facts of the food. I haven't read the entire instructional booklet yet and have yet to try the Program Mode and the Total Mode. I do hope they put in a back light for the Nutrition Facts Display next time to see the numbers more clearly.
