ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Astrid Lindgren, the creator of Pippi Longstocking, Emil, and dozens of other world-famous characters, has thrilled three generations of children with her storytelling. She is the only children’s author with a literary prize, a theme park, a museum, a satellite, and a minor planet named in her honor. (After this last honor, she suggested changing her name to “Asteroid Lindgren.”) A jury appointed by Swedish Radio’s Culture Department to elect the “Author of the Millennium” voted Astrid Lindgren second after William Shakespeare. She was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Medal and heaps of other awards and honors.

MY REVIEW:
I loved reading books when I was younger. I took after my mom who loved reading Romance novels too. When I was younger, I can sit all day at home reading books like Sweet Valley (from Kids to University) and Hardy Boys. I was a fast reader too so, I can finish 2 to 3 Sweet Valley University books per day. I hope my daughters would be book lovers too, like me, because reading books widened my imagination, expanded my vocabulary and took me to places and scenes in the book.

When I received the Rasmus and the Vagabond book by Astrid Lindgren, I was excited to read it to my daughter.

Astrid Lindgren's Rasmus and the Vagabond is a very nice book. I read a chapter each night to my 6 year old daughter, until we finished the book, and she loved the adventure and the story. She asked the definition of some of the deeper words (for her age) in the story and I explained it to her in simpler terms so she can understand it.

The book took me and my daughter to an adventure with Rasmus and Oscar and I loved how Astrid brought Rasmus' character to life. It was easy to imagine the scenarios and characters in the book because they were described well. This is a nice read for young adventurers and young book lovers because it has a rich story and a lesson at the end.
