Last year, I FINALLY lost 10 pounds so, one of my few resolutions this 2015 is to continue eating healthier so that I may finally be able to achieve a normal BMI. I've honestly never heard of hemp seeds before so when I received a big pack of Raw Shelled Organic Hemp Seeds From Super Hemp, off to Google I went. :)

I researched a bit about Hemp seeds because this is the first time I heard about these. I learned about the nutritional benefits of these seeds and there were a lot! :) Here is a quick product description from Super Hemp:

Super Hemp seed is considered by many nutritionists as nature's most perfect food. Super Hemp is a true superfood providing a perfect 3:1 balance of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids. These fatty acids promote heart health, lower triglycerides, work to reduce inflammation, promote brain health, and support the immune system. Low in carbohydrates, hemp seeds are ideal for those following the paleo diet or who need to be carb conscious for their health.
Super Hemp also delivers a power-punch of complete proteins, making it a great addition to vegan and vegetarian diets. In fact, Super Hemp delivers 10g of easily digestable plant-based protein per 1 oz serving. Compare that to 6g protein in one large hard boiled egg.
SUPER FACTS
...Super Hemp is super good in recipes, toppings or raw.
...Super Hemp contains more protein and omegas and less carbs than the same serving of Chia seeds or Flax.
...Super Hemp packs a perfectly balaced dose of both Omega 3 and Omega 6 (10g omegas per 28g serving).
...Super Hemp is RAW, shelled, USDA-certified-organic hempseeds.
...Super Hemp is Cold-processed (under 104°F) from raw, live hemp seeds.

Super Hemp hulled hemp seeds have a light buttery nut-like flavor, making a nutritious and tasty addition to hot cereal and smoothies. Super Hemp blends easily into desserts, breads, pancakes, granola bars and other baked goods. Sprinkle Super Hemp on salads and blend into pilafs, but don't stop there... Super Hemp tastes great with almost everything.
Because of their high oil content, hemp seeds should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer to keep fresh.

Since this is the first time I'm trying the Raw Shelled Organic Hemp Seeds, I was a bit worried that it would taste awful. From experience, most healthy and natural foods I've tried have a weird taste, if not, they taste bad.

The Super Hemp came in a big 1 lb. bag. I pinched some seeds on my fingers and tasted it and was surprised it tasted good. It has a nutty, buttery, sunflower-seed like taste and has a super slight bitter taste to it. Now coming from me, a person who hates bitter tastes, this is a compliment.

I sprinkled a tablespoon on top of my food and was super happy it made my food taste better. The super slight bitter taste was masked and my food tasted better. I love it when I bite on these small seeds because they make a slight "popping" feel. I love how I can add it to almost my daily food without altering the taste of my food. If not, these seeds make my food taste better.

Adding these to my food haven't caused me any bloated or gassy feeling. It feels good to know that I'm adding something healthy to my food and that I don't have to sacrifice taste to eat healthier. :)

HAVE YOU TRIED HEMP SEEDS BEFORE? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THEM? :)
