Instant Read Digital Meat Thermometer By Pico Review + #Giveaway 5/25 US
How do you know when the meat is thoroughly cooked already? Before, I used to base it on the meat's color and by slicing it to see if the middle part of the meat is cooked already. Or, if I'm following a recipe, I follow the cooking time there.
After trying out a meat thermometer, I realized how helpful and convenient this is in terms of measuring the internal temperature of the meat. Instead of basing the wellness of the meat based on it's color, or cutting the meat in the middle, a meat thermometer measures the temperature in the middle of a thick meat so that I can be assured that the meat is cooked correctly.
I received the Pico Instant Read Digital Meat Thermometer and I looked forward to see how it would work. Although I already have a digital meat thermometer, I like trying out new brands to see how they would compare.
The Pico Instant Read Digital Meat Thermometer arrived in a simple packaging. Here is a summary of the specifications of the product from the company:
- Response Time: 4-5 seconds to within 1°F of final temperature in moving boiling water (212°F)
- Accuracy: ±0.9°F @ -4 ~ 302°F (±0.5°C @ -20 ~ 150°C)
- Range: -40 ~ 482°F (-40 ~ 250°C)
- Battery: 1x CR2032
- Battery Life: 4,000+ hours
- Auto-Off: 60 min
- °F/°C Configurable: Yes
Pico is certified by NSF, CE, and RoHS
The Pico Digital Meat Thermometer is light and portable. It has a large LCD screen and only has 3 buttons which makes this really easy to use.
This powers on a AAA battery which is not included. The battery goes at the back of the thermometer.
The back portion of the packaging has a list of suggested internal temperature of the meat based on how well done you want your meat is. I like this because I don't have to look it up myself.
The metal probe is sharp enough to go through the meat with no problems. I also like how easy it is to clean the probe. The Pico Instant Read Digital Meat Thermometer instantly measures the internal temperature of the meat in just seconds. I also like that I can hold the temperature it measured. The temperature read out can be changed to Celsius or Farenheit although it returns to Celsius whenever I turn the thermometer on again.
I also like the large screen because, although it doesn't have a backlight, the display is large and clear enough to be seen.
The thermometer turns off automatically when I put the probe back to the side of the blue thermometer body. I like that I can flip it back because this serves as a protection for the probe as well as less danger of the sharp probe accidentally puncturing something.
This is a nice and accurate Digital Meat Thermometer although much simpler than my current one. :)

I like that the sharp probe folds in for safe storage. It's also neat that the thermometer automatically turns off when you fold in the probe. The extra large display is nice too, wish it was backlit though.
