Having an oily and acne-prone skin type, I regularly use a mud mask in order to help control some of the oiliness of my skin as well as help prevent more pimples and acne from popping out and to help dry-out and decrease the size of my current pimples and acne. I also use a mud mask because I notice that my skin looks brighter after using rinsing it off. In fact, I wrote a blog post before about my 7 reasons on why I love to use a mud mask. Read my post HERE.

When I received the Anti-Aging Peptide MegaMud Mask by Via Cosmedics, I looked forward to trying it because it's a brand I've never tried before.

The ViaCosmedics Anti-Aging Peptide MegaMud arrived in a plain white box. The 2.0 fl. oz. jar inside is sealed properly so that the mud mask wouldn't spill during shipping. Here is a quick product description from the company:
  • MEGAMUD. MEGA RESULTS. More than just a mud, this advanced facial treatment mask is formulated with powerful age-fighting peptides to rejuvenate your skin and restore your natural radiance at any age. Nutrient rich bentonite and kaolin clays, infused with botanicals, visibly extract impurities from the pores to clear the skin of problematic dirt, oil, and toxins. Tones complexion and tightens pores to reduce size. Softens, smoothes, and brightens skin for a silky, youthful looking appearance.
  • AGE-FIGHTING PEPTIDES. Matrixyl® 3000 (Palmitoyl Oligopeptide & Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide) boosts collagen production, stimulates fibroblast cells within the skin, and reduces wrinkles and lines. Argireline® (Acetyl Hexapeptide) relaxes facial muscle tension by inhibiting the release of neurotransmitters, resulting in reduced wrinkles and lines.
  • HYALURONIC ACID increases absorption and retention of water, up to 1,000 times its weight, giving the skin added fullness and providing a firmer, more youthful complexion. It promotes hydration, volume, and density necessary for healthy transport of essential nutrients to cells.
  • POTENT ANTIOXIDANTS. Green tea, pumpkin, pineapple, and pomegranate team up to fight free radicals, support proper skin regeneration, and combat the effects of aging. The superfood Argan Oil infuses powerful healing, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging benefits for protecting and maintaining healthy skin.
  • MADE IN THE USA in our FDA registered and cGMP compliant facility. Our products are CRUELTY FREE and do not contain parabens, sulfates, or harmful ingredients.

The Via Cosmedics MegaMud has a dark gray color. It has a menthol/minty scent which isn't too overpowering. It has a thin, pasty consistency and dries up in about 10 minutes. The directions were printed clearly on the box as well as on the jar.

After cleansing my skin, I applied a thin film of the Via Cosmedics MegaMud mask on my skin. It feels a bit cool upon application. Unlike some of the mud masks I've tried, this doesn't cause a tingling.tightening sensation on my skin.

After 10 minutes, the mud mask dried up but I waited the whole 15 minutes before rinsing it off.

The Via Cosmedics MegaMud Mask is easy to rinse off and doesn't leave any residue on my skin. I like how my pimples and acne decrease in size and how my skin and complexion looks brighter.

I use the Via Cosmedics MegaMud Mask thrice a week and I don't see any over-dryness or experience any skin irritations. I like how this lessens the oiliness of my skin as well as lessen the appearance of my pimples and acne.

I like how gentle yet effective this product is.

  1. I love mud masks! Nice to know it doesn't dry you out, even at 3 times a week. You look a little like the tin man (well, tin lady!) with it on, hehe. :)
