Precision Elite Food Thermometer From EatSmart Review
Before, I used to refer to the color of the meat I'm grilling.broiling to see whether it's cooked or not. Most of the time, I would slice the meat in between to ensure that the middle of the thickest part of the meat is already cooked. When I first used a food thermometer, I was surprised at how the meat came out more juicy and how I was more confident that the meat is thoroughly cooked. By measuring the internal temperature of the meat, I was able to know that the meat is done without overcooking or under-cooking it.
I like trying out new food thermometers because it gives me a comparison between two thermometers and if their ability to measure temperature is accurate (based on whether they have the same or almost the same temperature read-out).
When I received the Precision Elite Food Thermometer, I was a bit excited to try it because it's different than the other food thermometers I've tried before.
The EatSmart Precision Elite Food Thermometer arrived in a nice box. The box came with the following items inside:
- red EatSmart Precision Elite Food Thermometer
- 2 x AAA batteries
- anti-microbial nylon case
The anti-microbial nylon case is a nice plus because I can use it to store the EatSmart Precision Elite Food Thermometer to help it stay clean and protect it. I can also use it as a carrying pouch for the thermometer so that I can bring it on the go or when we go to a family member's house or go to a park.
There are only 3 buttons in the thermometer which makes it easy to use the EatSmart Precision Elite Food Thermometer. The LCD screen has a blue back light and has a large LCD display so it makes it easy to read to temperature read-out.
The hold button is helpful when I need to hold the temperature reading. There is also a CAL (calibrate) button which I haven't had the need to use yet.
The EatSmart Precision Elite Food Thermometer turns on by flipping the metal probe open and automatically turns of when the probe is flipped back under the red plastic body. I like the on and off mechanism of the EatSmart Food Thermometer because it's easy and keeps the probe safe.
The metal probe is long and sharp which makes it easier for me to push it through the thickest part of the meat with not so much effort. It's easy to clean as well because I only have to wipe the probe with a damp cloth and the probe is all set for the next use.
I compared the temperature read-out of the EatSmart Precision Elite Food Thermometer to my current food thermometer and I am happy that they almost have the same read-out (just a 0.2 Farenheit difference).
This is a very light, portable and easy to use food thermometer perfect to measure the temperature of different types of meat. I just wish they have a booklet with the suggested internal temperature of meats so that I can have a reference when I want to see what the internal temperature should be. I do have a list from my other food thermometer but to those who will own this the first time, they have to research about the internal temperature of meats first (which is still easy to do. :)).
