Speekee - Online Spanish Learning Program for Kids Review and Giveaway 8/4 US

I believe that understanding multiple languages is a plus and that the younger a person, the easier they can learn different languages. My daughters only speak in English but they understand some sentences when we talk to them in Tagalog. Our goal is to make them speak in Tagalog too but it's a bit hard since they watch cartoon shows in English and my elder daughter who goes to school already only speaks English at school.

When we migrated here in the US about 4 years ago, I noticed that most people can speak Spanish or understand even just a bit of Spanish. I became interested and wanted to learn to speak Spanish or even just understand some basic Spanish words. I've learned a few Spanish words from Dora, maybe about 10 words, because my daughters love watching her. So when Speekee contacted me to do a review of their Online Spanish Learning Program, I grabbed the opportunity since I wanted to learn Spanish too.

Speekee is an Online Spanish Learning Program for children ages 2 to 11. Here are the 2 programs available and a short description from the Speekee Website:

-- Speekee FastTrack: Perfect for Younger Learners

- For children up to 7 years old
- Look for the FastTrack near the bottom of the screen at www.speekee.com (membership required)
- Your child learns Spanish through authentic Spanish videos, puppets and song
- Optionally you use the FastTrack activity ideas at home

-- The Speekee Spanish Challenge: Brilliant for Older Learners

- For children 7 years and older
- Your child learns through over 40 authentic Spanish videos and mission based game play
- Speekee tracks your child's progress and reports back to you by email (you can unsubscribe from emails at any time)
- Explore, communicate, learn and play at www.speekee.com
- After logging in, click on the bell icon for your first mission

I clicked the Speekee FastTrack at the lower right bottom of the page and followed the week by week guide for my 2 daughters who are 3 and 6. I also watched the videos with them and they loved the catchy songs.

The videos are very educational because the Spanish words are accompanied by pictures or actions of what they mean. I also opted for the English Subtitle which can be turned on or off by clicking the CC button on the lower right of the video (see the yellow arrow for the CC button).

I love how easy it is to navigate through the videos and how fun and catchy the songs are. I like that each video concentrates on a few Spanish words and these few words are repeatedly said all throughout the video. This method makes it easier to remember the Spanish words and sentences because my daughters copy and say them over and over again too.

You can visit the Speekee WEBSITE to learn more about their program.

  1. I think it would be great to teach my granddaughter spanish, since she is half mexican. Her grandma speaks to her in spanish but it would be nice to learn it to with her.

  2. I would love to learn Spanish better because we live where we can use this a lot. I'd love to learn Korean or Chinese too, but I'm afraid I wouldn't get much chance to use it.

  3. I would love for our four 3 year-old children to learn Spanish.

  4. I've got a soon-to-be 6 yo who would like to learn Spanish. He's starting kindergarten with an online charter school this September and, since he's way ahead of the curve on reading and math, I'd like to fill his extra time with a new language.
