ABOUT THE BOOK:

Long ago, the violence and radiation of terrorist wars killed America. Descendants of the survivors now dwell in a world of ritual and magic, where ten dominions struggle for supremacy and a dark, formidable power has emerged.

Areenna, the only daughter of the King of Freemorn, is barely eighteen, yet her psychic ability is strong. She is called to The Island and learns that the fate of her world is in her hands. She must undertake a perilous journey to save Nevaeh from malicious destruction. But she will not travel alone.

Mikaal, the son of the High King of Nevaeh, has just as much at stake as Areenna. The quest takes them through haunted wastelands filled with mutants while a vile and evil force will do everything in its power to stop them—for it wants Nevaeh as its own.

MY REVIEW:

The book, Born To Magic: Tales of Nevaeh: Volume 1 is a nice book to read. This is the first book I've read by David Wind and I like how this book kept me wanting to read on. The story is captivating and I like the characters in this story. Princess Areenna possesses a great psychic ability and since she's still young, she still haven't realized the extent of her power. On the other hand, her childhood friend Prince Mikael also has powers but in their world, men aren't supposed to have powers. He was aware of it since he was young but concealed it and proceeded to train like a warrior. But, as the dark forces start to infiltrate their world, Princess Areenna and Prince Mikael started to form a bond and join forces to defeat the first attack. Princess Areenna starts her supposed to be single journey and quest, which is full of adventure and obstacles, but for the first time, somebody else will go with her.

This made me want to read the story more and more because the love story between Princess Areenna and Prince Mikael starts to blossom. This book is refreshing because instead of having sexual and explicit content, their blooming feelings are innocent and wholesome. I like how they discovered each others strength as they go on their journey as well as teach and learn from each other.
