Fractionated Coconut Oil By Pure Body Naturals Review

My scalp is often dry and flaky, specially the front part, but not itchy. I've tried several anti-dandruff shampoos but none of them really eliminated my flaky scalp problem. Yes, they were quick fixes and would relieve my dry and flaky scalp for about a week, but after continuous use, the flakiness would reappear. I have to change my shampoo everyday to minimize the flakiness but I really like a more long-term treatment for my dry, flaky scalp.

I've tried an argan oil hair mask for my hair and noticed that it relieves the flakiness of my scalp. The only thing is, the scent of the hair mask is a bit strong so my hair smells like the hair mask for about 3 days, even if I shampoo everyday.

I was given the opportunity to try the fractionated coconut oil by Pure Body Naturals and I was excited to try it on my scalp. I've researched about Coconut Oils and I learned that they're great for the hair and scalp.

Here is a quick product description of the Fractionated Coconut Oil by Pure Body Naturals:

  • 100% Pure - Base and Carrier Oil for Aromatherapy, Essential Oils, Massage Use and Therapeutic Recipes.
Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO) is an all-natural carrier oil that readily absorbs into the skin, making it ideal oil for topical therapies. Its feather-light emollient effect provides a soothing barrier without clogging pores and is excellent for dry or troubled skin. It leaves skin feeling silky smooth, not greasy like other vegetable carrier oils. It is completely soluble with all essential oils and is colorless, odorless, and will not stain or go rancid.
  • ·         Leaves skin feeling smooth with no greasy feeling
·         Does not clog pores – a natural skin and hair moisturizer, softener and non-irritant lubricator
·         Can be mixed with Carrier Oils and Essential Oil as a base oil
·         Great balance of saturated fats helps stimulate hair growth and acts as a natural moisturizer
·         Odorless and Colorless – does not stain and easily washes out of clothing and sheets
·         Fractionated Coconut Oil is a carrier that never goes rancid (stored cool out of direct sunlight)
·         May help soothe skin inflammation due to its disinfectant and antioxidant properties.*

The Fractionated Coconut Oil by Pure Body Naturals came in a clear bottle with a clear liquid inside. The clear liquid is odorless and has a thin consistency which is a bit thicker than water.

For a scalp treatment, I first washed and shampooed my hair. Then, I added a small amount of the Fractionated Coconut Oil on my palms and proceeded to massage it in my scalp for about 2 minutes. I then proceeded to apply some on my hair as well to see if it would help with my frizzy and puffy hair. I left it on my hair and scalp for about 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, I rinsed it off and noticed that my hair felt a bit heavy and oily to the touch the first time (lessening the coconut oil the next application helped with the oily and heavy feel) I tried my treatment. I placed a small amount of shampoo just to rinse out the excess oil on my hair.

The Coconut Oil proved to be an effective flaky scalp treatment for me because I noticed the flakiness of my scalp has lessened. My hair also dried up and looked more tamed and less puffy. I use this once every 3 days because using it consecutively made my hair produce more oil faster, making it look a bit oily.

I also used this on my elbows and knees, because they're the drier parts of my skin, and when used the right way (as in a super duper little amount only), the coconut oil relieves the dryness after a few days of using it.

The only problem I noticed was that the coconut oil flows freely and fast so it's a bit hard to control it with the dispenser included. A pump would be more suitable to control the amount of coconut oil I need in each application.
