Shell Game by Thinkfun Review

When I was still in college, my ability to memorize was a lot better maybe because I need to read lots of textbooks, memorize a lot of formulas and lots of scientific and medical terms. Right now, I noticed that memorizing things has become harder for me maybe because it's been years since I had to really push my brain to memorize things.

ThinkFun, originally called Binary Arts, is a company founded in 1985 by Bill Ritchie and Andrea Barthello, a husband-and-wife team. Their mission is "To translate the brilliant ideas of the craziest mathematicians, engineers and inventors into simple toys that can be appreciated by boys and girls around the world.". They have a wide variety of games which cater to all people of all ages who likes to challenge their mind and to sharpen their skills. They are the world's leader in fun games which build reasoning and creative thinking through play.

ThinkFun sent me their Shell Game to try in exchange for an honest review and I couldn't wait to try it. The Shell Game is meant to improve memory and logic skills to solve the puzzle. It's for people ages 8 to adult and is meant for a single player only (of course no cheating! :))

Before playing the Shell Game, I read the manual first so that I can familiarize myself on the rules and goal of the game. It's very easy to understand and the goal of the Shell Game is to properly position the colored crab/s on their proper end point position.

I started with the first page and this is the beginning position of the crab and the stones. The top diagram is the beginning position (red circle with the letter A is on the left) and the end point should look like the diagram on the bottom where the red circle with the letter A is on the far right. To make things more interesting, the white shells are used to cover the crab and the stones in order to test my memory. The brown arcs are the ones I can swap my shells until I reach my end position. I forgot to take a picture of my end position but I did finish the first page without difficulty. :)

There are 3 levels of difficulty and every page becomes harder and more difficult than the one before. This game is addictive and it really tested my memory. The first few pages are easy enough for my 5 year old daughter to do with supervision but as I've said, every page becomes harder to do and I couldn't wait to finish the entire booklet.
