GIANTmicrobes- Rhinovirus (The Common Cold) Review

If you have a common cold, do you know what causes it? Can you imagine what the organism looks like?

This is the organism which cause your Common Cold. Can you imagine this cute and little plush doll can cause that dreaded sneezing, coughing, sore throat and runny nose? Okay not exactly this cute plush doll but the super miniature version of it. It's called a rhinovirus and it causes the common cold.

Okay here is a microscopic view of the rhinovirus. It does look like the cute little plush doll my 5 year old daughter is holding but I am not happy if these viruses go inside my body.

As a stay-at-home mom to a 2 and 5 year old, I came across the GIANTmicrobes on another blogger's page and instantly I wanted one for my daughters. I am familiar with the organisms on the GIANTmicrobes' website because I studied them when I was in college. Yes, I followed my mom's footsteps as a Medical Technologist and studied these little organisms for 4 years! (And I am NOT kidding when I say I've studied a lot more!) :)  I saw the resemblance of the plush toys to the actual organisms and body fluids you can see under the microscope. (Yes I've seen a lot of organisms under the microscope already) For me, this is great to make other people aware on what organisms causes some common sickness.

I was excited to see the GIANTmicrobe in the mail and my 5 year old immediately asked what it was. I think she wondered why the plush toy looks very different from her other plush toy. So I told her that this is what causes her cough and sneezes and sore throat. Now she knows this herself and when she sees the plush toy, she tells my younger daughter about it. :)

Here is my 2 1/2 year old daughter with the rhinovirus GIANTmicrobe and she calls it "my baby". LOL.

I think their products are great. The GIANTmicrobe plush toy I received was really soft and the color is very vibrant.
