Make Cute Halloween Ballon Decor With Glow Stick Bracelets By Super Bright
My daughters like to play with glow sticks so when they saw this big tube full of glow sticks from Super Bright, they immediately asked me to snap a few to make them bracelets.
I searched Pinterest for some ideas on what to do with glow sticks and I found a cute and easy craft for kids. The original pin was for a ghost balloon and I modified it a bit. My daughters made some "scary" (at least for them it's scary) zombie, pumpkin and the original ghost balloon from Pinterest. :)
For this easy DIY Halloween craft, we used the following:
- The Glow Sticks from Super Bright
- Permanent Markers
- White balloons
- bike pump (to pump air into the balloons)
Here are the instructions to make the cute/creepy Halloween balloon decors:
1. Snap the glow sticks to activate their glows. For the Super Bright glow sticks, so far, the colors we saw were blue, red/pink, yellow and green.
2. Tape both ends of the glow sticks to form a loop. This would make it easier to put into the balloons.
3. Put the bended glow stick inside the deflated balloon. I find it easier to insert the rounded part first.
4. Inflate the balloon to the desired size and tie the bottom of the balloon.
5. Draw silly, scary or funny faces on the balloon using markers.
6. Turn off the light to see your glowing balloons! :)
Both my daughters had fun doing these fun glow balloons. :) Want to see the effect?
The glow balloons look normal when there's light and looks great when lights are turned off.
The Glow Stick Bracelets by Super Bright comes in a tube with 100 different colored glow sticks. It also comes with the small plastic tubes to make these glow sticks into a bracelet. They glow brightly for approximately 5 hours and then the glow starts to fade away. It continued to emit light (although the emitted light becomes weaker) for up to 24 hours for me.
I'll leave some unsnapped glow sticks so we can use them when we go trick or treating this Halloween. :)
You can purchase the Glow Stick Bracelets by Super Bright on Amazon.

Their Name Is Today: Reclaiming Childhood in a Hostile World Book Review By Johann Arnold + Giveaway 11/6 US/CAN
ABOUT THE BOOK:
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
MY REVIEW:
This book is an eye-opener for me. I've always known at the back of my mind the huge difference on how we were brought up and how me and hubby are bringing up our daughters.
20+ years ago, when we were children, technology wasn't that advanced compared to today. I grew up in the Philippines and during summer, I remember we always stayed at our grandparents' house in the province. We would spend our day playing with toy clay pots and pans, bike around our grandparents' driveway or catch fish in their fish pond, this is popular in provinces. We didn't have video games or handheld consoles available today to young children. We would play pretend or run around and play "chinese garter", a popular game in the Philippines. The closest thing we had in our grandparents' house compared to today's technology was a television and we would rather play outside than watch it.
Fast forward 20+ years, I now have 2 daughters of my own and being 3 and 6, they can already use the laptop and tablets without difficulty. If I don't interfere with their gadget use, they would stay glued to the laptop and the tablet the whole day. Some days, specially when I'm busy, I would oversee their gadget use and I am guilty of that. Most days, I would limit their tablet and laptop use and bring them to the playground to play. We would go biking and pier fishing once in a while and their joy and satisfaction in catching a fish cannot be compared to while they're in front of the tablet or laptop.
As I read the book, I saw some points to why the world has changed drastically and children have been more inclined to using their gadgets instead of going out and play. One of the things I read in the book is that kids playing outside is not that safe anymore specially when they are not watched over by their parents or guardian. I do agree with this because I read and watch a lot of news about missing children as well as adults. This is one of the reasons to why I prefer my daughters inside the house. If me or my hubby can't go with them to the playground, then they stay inside our home.
There are a lot more things I wanted to share about my experiences as a child and as a parent that I've related to the book but I wouldn't finish my review. :)
This book has taught me new things as well as reaffirm me on what I have to do to raise my daughters the same way my mom raised us. It's a great must-read for new and old parents.

There's hope for childhood. Despite a perfect storm of hostile forces
that are robbing children of a healthy childhood, courageous parents and
teachers who know what's best for children are turning the tide. Johann
Christoph Arnold, whose books on education, parenting, and
relationships have helped more than a million readers through life's
challenges, draws on the stories and voices of parents and educators on
the ground, and a wealth of personal experience. He surveys the drastic
changes in the lives of children, but also the groundswell of grassroots
advocacy and action that he believes will lead to the triumph of common
sense and time-tested wisdom. Arnold takes on technology, standardized
testing, overstimulation, academic pressure, marketing to children,
over-diagnosis and much more, calling on everyone who loves children to
combat these threats to childhood and find creative ways to help
children flourish. Every parent, teacher, and childcare provider has the
power to make a difference, by giving children time to play, access to
nature, and personal attention, and most of all, by defending their
right to remain children.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
People have come to expect sound advice from Johann Christoph Arnold, an
award-winning author with over a million copies of his books in print
in more than 20 languages. A noted speaker and writer on marriage,
parenting, and end-of-life issues, Arnold is a senior pastor of the
Bruderhof, a movement of Christian communities. With his wife, Verena,
he has counseled thousands of individuals and families over the last

Arnold's message has been shaped by encounters with great peacemakers
such as Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa, César Chavez, and John

hundreds of public high schools to promote reconciliation through
forgiveness. This work has also brought him to conflict zones from
Northern Ireland to Rwanda to the Middle East. Closer to home, he serves

Nancy B's Science Club Microscope From Educational Insights Review #educationalinsights
I have a B.S. in Medical Technology and currently a stay-at-home mom. I have 2 daughters age 3 and 6 and I specifically chose to review this microscope for my 6 year old daughter.
I can say I know a lot about microscope and how to use one because we had intensive lab hours when I was studying. We started studying plant cells to human cells to body fluids and different kinds of parasites and microorganisms. There were A LOT!
I want to introduce my daughters, my 6 year old specifically at this time, to the amazing things she can see under the microscope. I want her to learn how a small dot to the naked eye can be an insect or something else under the microscope.
The Educational Insights' Nancy B's Science Club Microscope is a great product to start young children and kids on the things they can see under a microscope.
The microscope itself is made of plastic and operates on 3xAAA batteries. This is a simple microscope and my 6 year old daughter learned how to focus the lens up to the 100x magnification. There are also 4 prepared slides with several specimens included which is nice.
There's a journal included for suggested activities and my daughter asked me to help her with the cheek cell experiment. I helped her focus the cheek cell specimen on the 400x magnification and she was super excited to see them. :)
This microscope is great for young kids because it works. It's very simple and easy to use and perfect for beginner scientist. The recommended age of the Nancy B's Microscope is for children ages 8 and up but my 6 year old daughter used it with no problem. :)
This microscope has 3 magnifications, 30x, 100x and 400x and has 2 light-settings. One light setting shines on top of the specimen, giving a top view of the specimen and the other light setting shines below the specimen (under the stage) to give a view of the specimen's structure.
The extra accessories were also very cute. There was a plastic scalpel, some vials and test tube, a stirring rod, pipette, petri dish, and tweezers. It really seemed like she was in a laboratory and she loved it. :)
I love the extra slides, cover slips and labels although the cover slips are just clear stickers, they actually work for this microscope. I helped my daughter get an aphid (a very tiny insect, looks like a dot) in our bell pepper leaves and we viewed this under the microscope. I showed her the top view of the insect and the view from below. She was creeped out at how that small, dot-like insect looked like under the microscope. LOL.
I love how the Nancy B's Science Club Microscope. It is far from a real microscope but this is great for a starter microscope specially younger children. I wouldn't have to worry about my daughter destroying expensive microscope lenses. The magnification works nice and I just wish there were more slides and cover slips available because my daughter wanted to view lots of different things. :)

When I was younger, my mom bought the Where In The World is Carmen San Diego game. I've played that game lots of times and I never got bored or tired of solving the where Carmen San Diego is. From that moment, I've loved playing PC games such as RPG, mystery, strategy, adventure and puzzle games.
HER Interactive creates high quality, inspiring and fun games for girls of all ages. They've won 27 Time Gold Awards and 3 Time Silver Awards for Parent's Choice Best Software, ages 10 & Up for their Nancy Drew Games.
They sent me a copy of their Nancy Drew: Labyrinth of Lies and I've been playing it for quite some time now. I actually chose the Master Sleuth setting and I still haven't finished solving the mystery.
The Nancy Drew: Labyrinth of Lies has nice graphics. That's the first thing I noticed about the game because I like games with good graphics. The sounds and effects are also nice and appropriate for each scene. There are only a few places to visit which makes it a bit easy to go to navigate through the different scenery. The puzzles are a bit hard for the Master Sleuth level and I had to spend a bit of time solving each puzzle.
At one time, I went ahead and tried to jumped into the lava. I thought it wouldn't let me but I got a "You've made a fatal error" message. I haven't saved my game yet and thought I would start at the very beginning when I loaded my game BUT I was glad that I restarted at the bridge before I jumped into the lava.
I also like the setting of the game. I loved Greek Mythology when I was in high school and I love how I was able to recall some of the things I learned when we studied Greek Mythology.
The Nancy Drew: Labyrinth of Lies is an addicting mystery adventure game. The game made me feel like I'm Nancy Drew and love how I have to work and think to solve the puzzles.
Nancy Drew: Labyrinth of Lies is available on the Her Interactive Website.
You can also connect with them on their social media sites.
Now, who's ready for a giveaway? :) Her Interactive has sponsored a giveaway for a copy of the Nancy Drew: Labyrinth of Lies PC game! Just head on over to the rafflecopter form below to enter! Good Luck!! :)

Private Selection available at Ralph's and Kroger Stores #GotItFree
- A bag of Private Selection Tortilla Chips
- A jar of Private Selection Salsa
- A can of Private Selection Snack Nuts
- A FREE coupon for Private Selection Frozen Fruit (12–16 oz., any variety)
- A FREE coupon for Private Selection Bacon (12–20 oz., any variety)
- A FREE coupon for a Private Selection 9” Fruit or Crème Pie (any variety, from the Bakery department)
- Tons of pass-along coupons for fellow Ralphs shoppers
I saw an assortment of pies available when I visited Ralph's and I chose the Banana Creme Pie. Honestly, I think the taste was just okay. The filling is a bit sweet and has a mashed, creamy consistency. I prefer pies with fillings which has whole fruits in them.
The Private Selection - Select Blend Nuts is one of my favorites. I like the whole macadamias and cashew although it's a bit salty. No problems since I just tap the excess salt off. :)
The Private Selection Blue Corn Tortilla Chips and the Salsa (Medium) is a perfect match. I like how crispy the Blue Corn Tortilla Chips were and the salsa is a bit more spicier than the other salsa I have at home.
The Private Selection Handpicked Strawberries were perfect for my smoothies and I used it in my fruit infuser bottle. The strawberries are big and tasted fresh and sweet.
The Private Selection line has lots of products available. I haven't tried their ice cream yet but I'll definitely try that the next time I go to Ralph's. :)

GeoSafari Jr.'s Underwater Explorer Boat From Educational Insights
My daughters love playing with water. They love taking a bath (they take a bath longer than me because they have tons of toys in the bathtub and they play), swimming, jumping on muddy puddles (the few times it rained here in SoCal, they jumped on all the muddy puddles they saw), playing with the sprinklers, and maybe everything that has to do with splashing around.
The Underwater Explorer Boat by GeoSafari Jr. has a simple and cute design. The bottom of the boat is made of clear plastic with a 3x magnifier on one side. This feature of the boat enabled my daughters to know what they can see underwater and at the same time, magnify an object by placing the part of the boat with the magnifier on top of the object. The orange rubber floatee which is attached to the boat with a black string can be used as a pretend toy (to save toys in trouble) or as a wrist holder so the boat wouldn't float away (when my daughters are in the pool). The steering wheel and propellers at the back rotates which for my 3 year old is amazing. :) The boat has a nice size and is great for pretend play too. My daughters had lots of fun playing rescue boat with the GeoSafari Jr.'s Underwater Explorer Boat.
My daughters made a video of the GeoSafari Jr.'s Underwater Explorer Boat and made a story out of it too. :) Please watch, hit like and/or comment and they'll love it! :)
The GeoSafari Jr.'s Underwater Explorer Boat is great for toddlers and young kids. It's a nice way to discover what's beneath the water and great for pretend play too.
